TIARE - GARDENIA TAHITENSIS
Tahitensis is one of the most famous gardenias. Polynesian plant of the rubiaceae family, its deliciously fragrant flower is called tiare in Polynesia. It is part of the composition of monoi, an ancestral "Mahohi" beauty recipe, obtained by macerating bud flowers in Copra oil.
It is widely used in the Polynesian pharmacopoeia. The shrub produces intense, snowy white flowers that contrast with the deep green of its glazed leaves. Its very floral, sweet scent, with a powerful smoothness, also recalls accents of tuberose.
